Explored language with people during language week

Rema from coimbatore joined us on phone to share about Tamil language. She shared how words originate in different languages – “Did word ‘cash’ comes from ‘kasa’ in Tamil?” Her talk encouraged some of the Tamil speaking kids to communicate with her in Tamil and one of the last quote stayed in one of the child’s mind “Say thank you to one who helps and remember to forgive others”

Vijay, spent the whole week at O-campus and brought in friends who shared and explored languages and the joy of learning, speaking, writing … dancing …
We explored, heard and discussed things like …why we need language? Does langue comes easily in certain age? Origin of words?

Spanish was caught with some kids spontaneously. In between he brought and shared some facts of language which are labeled as “grammar” and kept aside for its structure and lack of understanding.

Learning a new language with Christabel, her daughter Keturah and friend Nikitawas fun. They lived in Africa for few years and knows Swahili. They shared about Swahili and African culture.

Bindu joined to share her passion of Sanskrit language – she is not trained in this language, she met this language accidentally. She recites shloka without knowing meaning and she is experimenting to chant without knowing meaning. She shared how chanting has helped in practicing Thi-Chi. In the process we also got introduced Thi-chi along with language :). We were inspired with her balance during demonstration of Thi-Chi.

Anitha Murthy, a published writer shared her story of “how she writes”. She took us through few exercises of using senses to describe and write.
