Construct spellings

Normally when kids ask for spelling we write on slate, or look into dictionary or say it aloud. Last week in session, I asked kids to write first their spelling and then I wrote. We started looking at the patterns of spellings like “whyle for while, compyl for compile. We also understood the “leaf and leave, Camfaretabal and comfortable and table and available.

We enjoyed constructing our own understanding on how spellings are made, analyzing self and understand our own patterns of spelling any word.
