It was 3:30pm in the afternoon when our vehicle reached back to GK. We all were tired. We all had a big bunch of memories with us about the experience we had. Few children got pick up cards as soon as we reached. I went inside and sat in jungle with few children. They got involved in reading book and I got busy in replaying the whole day in my mind.

When we started I was nervous about the decision. We had chosen this place over other three places. When we entered the place cool breeze broke my thoughts and I realised that we have reached the place which was claimed as mini forest in city. We were welcomed by the dvkgreen library team. They had planned few activities for us. Mr John Neelankavil briefed us about the place and their initiative for spreading awareness amongst the people about the natural resources. They also informed us that they do one day to three days programmes for children and youngsters to orient them towards nature which includes detail observation, plantation, sketching, few experiments and adventures activities to feel part of nature.

First we entered a seminar hall. We watched few videos and attended a quiz based on the videos. After quiz through open discussion we came out with the mantra of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. We also made few slogans which we decided to recite while moving in the campus. Few of them were: “ Earth day everyday”, “cycle cycle bicycle cycle cycle recycle”,” Ped bachao Jeevan bachao”.

It was fun to recite them while walking. We observed “Mahagony” trees and collected seeds of Mahagony. We decided to use our lemonade paper cups to grow Mahagony seed and hence we all kept our paper cup safely. We played with natural rocket (Leaf of a plant), sat on natural boat (Leaf of a plant) and had lot of fun to pull our friends on leaf. We took Lunch break and finished eating within half an hour. We climbed trees, did spider walk and rope climbing. It was great to see children opening up for the new adventures. One group of girls decided to go for spider walk and each one of them were counselling and motivating each other to go for that. Clock was running fast and it was time to go back. We all said bye to the dvk team and headed back. This recap showed me so many things we did in one day. In these thoughts I realised that I was in jungle and children were again up to something with the same energy. As per me my day was over but for children, their day was still on. I have always found children filled with tremendous energy!
