This week started little differently. We had an exam. We all wrote seven questions of fourteen marks. This was surprise test. Time duration was 15 minutes. All questions were based on thinking. It was fun to conduct an exam. I applied my understanding of exam in stimulationJ, as our weekly objective was thinking skill application. Exam did not work with few children. I was prepared for the same. I played a video and then children did think sheets in their notebook. After stimulation we were busy doing planning. This time we decided to plan in detail. We also considered different needs while planning.

We explored different words like: solve experiment and apply words as a part of daily diet. We explored different activities based on measurement this week with interested children including cubs. We explored measurement using string. We checked our head size and compared each other’s head sizes. We found four different objects which matched to our head size. We made a house of size: 4 feet 2inches by 5feet 2 inches by 3feet 4 inches. We experimented with different material to make house.

In welcome we explored Mechanical, electrical and electronics make and break with different sizes of screw drivers, spanners and Allen keys. The exploration was going in different direction. First day it was on playing music using tools. The other day discussion was on why do we need these and how do we use them? The third day tools were used as a phone and children were talking to each other and fourth day they started opening different objects to see from inside like: telephone, mobile, tube light chalk, switches, regulators etc.

As a part of bioscope we explored a story using blooms taxonomy. First we read the story. We did two –two activities based on each level of thinking. We started with knowledge based activity in which we recalled the characteristics of the character and found different character’s name from the cross word puzzle. We wrote our understanding about the story and shared feelings of main character at different stages of story as part of comprehension thinking skill’s activity. Similarly we did different activities. Children responded to each activity. I was satisfied at the end as I could feel that these activities gave us experience. We were going through different thinking process while performing the activities. The discussion in between was making us aware about the same.

As part of flocci we explored topic ‘war’. We started with word war. Children prepare a list of words which can be used to putdown others; they explored the meaning of the same. Then they had a verbal fight. It was fun to see their fight and their fight for the words. We touched upon different aspects of war like: modern war v/s olden war, role of music in war, new inventions due to war and effect of war on economics. It took little longer then I plannedL, which affected children’s planning also.

Children worked on different goals like: Sketching, clay, strength test of different mud sample, Aarohi account, Fossil research, division and drawing. In safety club we worked on kitchen fire, spider, first aid stock and stamina. In math club many of us designed games for self and few played dice game based on addition and subtraction. In resource club we worked on different resources in various form like: labelling, sorting and making list of available items.

In thought club we discussed thoughts on sterilisation of dogs, usage of words in social environment, understanding about our private body parts etc….

As usual week went very fast. It is impossible to capture all things happening in a week at aarohi as the amount and energies are so high.
