Our floucci of the week was ‘Debates’ . I announced the topic of the floucci and all but one child continued with their own work. This one child was interested to know more about debates. Together we explored ‘opinions’, ‘facts’, when, where and how of debate. We then shared examples of facts and opinion. During this exploration, the child collected data from everybody about their understanding of Debates. I overheard a few responses which I am putting down here:
- debate…I don’t know
- 2 people fighting
- discussion between two people
- talking between 1 person & a group
- discussion between 2 groups
- discussion between a 2 people
- debate means to convince
- debate ….do you mean debit card?
