It all began last year with fishing in the village pond. When kids could not fish much, they wanted to make raft to sail in the pond. The project kept on getting postponed, but the desire was alive. One of the child expressed ‘I think its a little difficult for me to make”.

Last week at campus, one of Aarohi friend came visiting and joined our raft team and in one afternoon’s time – the raft made, tested and then used to cross the pond!

Either empty oil cans (of 5ltrs each) were use to create 40 kg of up-thrust. Availability of three bamboos gave birth to the triangular raft base. Testing was done in tour rain water harvesting pool. Then we were out to sail in the real pond. Watch the video to experience thechallenges and efforts and struggle and efforts and joys of different children.

Next week few more children got inspiresd to sail in the pond and many ended up swimming for two consecutive days in the pond 🙂
