Forest beyond Animals

When we went to Kanha Tiger Reserve, for most of us, TIGER was on top of our mind. After two days of Safari and roaming around we went for a Forest walk to experience what else the forest is made up of. We had already experienced Deer, Sambhar, Gaur, Swamp Deer, Owls, Eagles, Fox, Jackal, Trees and Butterflies. We asked WHAT ELSE forest is made up of?

We all went for 1 and half an hour with our guide on foot ‘nature train’ to the forest to explore what else is the forest made up of….at the end of the walk we had a long list…Soil, Nests, Spiders, regeneration, rocks, people, roots, termites, reptiles, homes, burrows, air, water, sun, interdependence, dung, animal waste, creepers, leaves, fallen leaves, bark, reproduction, clouds, flowers, tribes, animal calls, photosynthesis, weather, twigs, beats, fruits, seasons, branches, waterfalls, shade, bees, grass, fur, water bodies, orchids, tree hollows, oxygen, seed, ants, nectar, carbon oxide, tree sap, threads (insect), swamp, freedom, bushes, mud, colors earth, clay, dead wood, dewdrops…

Experiencing jungle in its purest form without any explanations or text book made us closer to forests in it own form. We explored this long list in our own ways – some clicked pics, some collected sticks, some just chased spider webs, some were just silent…
